Dr. Pitt is the Ida and Theo Rossi Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University in New York City. His research is focused on ion channels and calcium signaling, and on disease process that result from ion channel dysfunction (“channelopathies”).
The Pitt lab’s major projects are on molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease processes, such cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure and valvular disorders, and focuses on various neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.
The lab team uses cutting-edge scientific approaches, spanning from structural biology approaches through molecular and cellular platforms to animal models, as well as investigations of human disease with patient samples.
