The goal of the Pitt lab is to understand calcium signaling and ion channels in the heart and the brain. Employing cutting-edge scientific approaches from structural biology to patient-specific studies, research in the Pitt lab strives to uncover disease mechanisms and offer potential for patient therapy and for genetic testing.
The Lab Team
The Pitt lab welcomes a diverse set of talents and fosters an interdisciplinary approach in its attempts to translate fundamental scientific discoveries into clinical innovations.
Our Research
The Pitt Lab work discovered several mutations that lead to inherited channelopathies, such as cardiac arrhythmias, and as defined mechanisms underlying diseases such as cardiac arrhythmias, congenital defects, and neurological disorders like ataxia.
